I don't blame GF for Gen VI and VII's shortcomings. Masuda and GF have been more concerned about pre-planning for Gen VIII. I think that Gen VI was robbed of Pokemon Z thanks to Switch pre-planning. Kalos was left totally incomplete... I blame the Switch for screwing the 3DS era of Pokemon.

Yeah there may be some truth to it. X and y were clearly meant to have a z. This is more evident with the zygarde stuff in sun and moon being shoehorned in and the oerfect zygarde moves coded in gen 6 but never being used.
I bet z was meant for after oras, but due to total flop of wii u, switch had to come out asap. gamefreak would have been aware early that this was where the mainline games would have to go since nintendo merged the consolr handheld stuff. Z gets scrapped for the gen 7 that would have been in planning stage already but werent suposed to get put out untill later since they HAD to use it and not waste it. Gen 8 has most likely been being worked on since nibtendo told them about the switch

I remember them saying in an interview that due to the low reception of ORAS and the fact that remasters always sell lower, they just moved the Zygard stuff to SM and focused on finishing those.

Gee anon this sounds like a gamefreak issue. Wii U was a rotting corpse but that did hurt the quality of the rest of nintendo's first party output/quality most of the time.

Well I do, maybe if they didn't put all those french mons in gen 5 the gen 6 dex wouldn't be so empty.
Are we sure that snivy, the swords of justice, lilligant line, etc. Weren't originally planned for Kalos? Because having this much french in a region immediately before the france region is retarded.
Also you can add gen 5 to that list, it was supposed to be pokeamerica but completely fell flat.

It was always pretty evident that there were unfinished features in both 3ds games. Like how every Pokemon has a low poly overworld model to go along with their high poly model. They even have walking and running animations for every Pokemon. Things we'll never officially see in the 3ds era for whatever reason. Kind of damning considering the great success the 3ds is and how it might be the last true Nintendo portable considering how quickly phones have overtaken the handheld market.
