It's good to watch as long as you don't forget the target audience, they finally found the way to make Pokemon into a fun children's series. In the future, SM will probably be remembered with the same nostalgic fondness as the original Kanto run.

I never thought one could improve on perfection, but the anime somehow made Buzzwole even better.

It's fun. The comedy actually works with the art direction, which I cannot say about previous seasons. The fights are pretty nice when they do happen, and the more frequent slice-of-life segments are really chill and nice to see. One of the episodes features a Charjabug race where they put them in little go-karts, for reference. The characters are less robotic, so even the more uneventful episodes/scenes are still entertaining to watch. Team Rocket is great this time around.
Gladion isn't a new Paul, new Ash is fun and less Gary-Stu-ish; His team isn't anything to write home about but I legitimately enjoy how cute and strong Rowlet is.
It's not aiming to be a half-baked shounen this time around, which is actually a good thing.

I only really like the anime from Kanto until Hoenn. It really turned to shit to be honest. But I feel like before the anime got it's footing and still experimented like in indigo league where storylines were a little weird, It really was at its best. Also this is the first time that I've been tempted to watch the new anime lmao I really like the artstyle

I feel like it was kinda on its last breath in sinnoh and unova was fucking garbage, but I still really like pokemon lmao its not like I hate it I just think the anime really fell in quality. But I've watched clips of sun and moon on youtube and I really dig the animation.

Its basically Pokemon done in Yo-Kai Watch style. It can be funny but at times the humor feels a bit forced

The only problem with it is that, once again it isnt a good continuation. DP was the most serious season of Pokemon by the time it aired and then they changed the direction for BW by a lot. Then XY felt more like a continuation of the DP era with similar tone and now SM changed the direction of the series even more than BW did after DP.

I agree that her backstory ones were the best, but her personality is fine. Rewatch the show. Most of the time she's honestly very pleasant unless provoked or confronted with really really stupid or mean people (Georgia, early BW Ash)

I'd actually say it's more akin to Pokemon done in a Nichijou style. You've got a simple art style that goes into extremes for comedic effect.

There's story continuation in only the loosest of terms. Battles are only there to be gif-able, and there's nothing to be invested in. You have to be in a 'don't give a fuck' mindset when watching SM.

If so, 20 years of stale battles that revolve around a stale plot and stale animation would've turned off a lot of people. There's more to a series than just "hype!!!" and "battle!!".

In most episodes, over half of an episode is comedy when it comes to action and it would be better to focus more on the plot than comedy (SM episode 21 is a good example). Unfortunately, SM does not really have anything to do with Pokemon as they do not travel and are almost always in the same place and there is a lack of battles in SM which is quite a problem. If you thought that SM could give you hype, you were disappointed in the end and the reason was either because of the comedy or that they had not really focused on the plot. So do not expect much from SM. In short, SM is rather uninteresting of the story and the plot which is why it is boring.

Paul had some pretty good focus and backstory, but his character didn't change much because he wasn't supposed to. If Paul suddenly became all friendly with Ash and started acting nice, it would have been awful. He wasn't Gary and wasn't supposed to be.
