I noticed one tiny difference between the Incineroar reference sheet in the artbook, and the one that originally leaked, and that's that the "Asian mist" was cut.

Notice how Incineroar's concept art seems to lack the animation for its Darkest Lariat move. Compare Primarina's and Decidueye's, which shows them about to use their signature moves.

Perhaps the Asian Mist was intended to be Incineroar's signature move, until they changed their mind and gave it Darkest Lariat instead, and they simply erased the asian mist from its concept art so that people looking at it don't get confused when they see it performing a mysterious move that it don't have.

What if whoever leaked the gen 7 starters was, in fact, a rogue member from Sakurai's dev team and not a member of the anime team as generally thought?
It'd explain why only the final evos got leaked and the mid-evos stayed unleaked.

Not really. Sakurai received plenty of concept arts for Pokemon to use as the Gen 6 newcomer, and he picked Greninja. It'd probably be the same case here. He got plenty of concept arts, and he picked one as the Gen 7 newcomer.

Unless Dusk was planned before 2016, most likely. Sakurai's team wouldn't have sufficient time to develop them in time for Smash 5's release.

Huh. I don't like the idea of removing things from concept art. Even if it isn't part of the final product, it should still be shown as part of the process in designing the character. It's cool to see what was and wasn't implemented

These sheets are made after the design is finalized, concept art is how the design evolved

This sheet is for Creatures Inc and the anime staff to use when making Incineroar's model and animating it in the anime

Dark Type priority move that harshly lowers accuracy?

or a poison type move that both poisons and causes the foe to miss their next move. Would fail if foe is already poisoned/statused.

Probably -1 or -2 accuracy for the target opponent.
If so, they probably realized that Asian Mist would be quite weak for a signature move (during playtesting most likely, where its shortcomings would be more apparent) and decided to come up with something different for Incineroar.

Someone a while back translated this. The "Asian Mist" was actually flames/embers it'd spit into its opponent's face to distract them. So yes, Incineroar CAN breath fire.
