Why doesnt GF use real life city/country names for other regions? When will there be a South America region?

Because, except Kalos, they're regions, not countries
Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh are all in Japan
and unova and Alola in the US

Gen1 is significantly more grounded in reality than the other gens. It's based on Tajiri's childhood in post-war Japan, hence why Kanto is literally just named after the IRL Kanto region, there's an American GI and the only bad guys are the Yakuza
