Just retcon Lumineon as a bug type. It already learns bug type moves, looks vaguely like a butterfly and exhibits other bug-like behavior.

Nah, we need something like Gamma or Glow, with elements of both light and general radiation.
Much like how "Evil" has malicious moves as well as elemental darkness.

Literal light has been used as a Fairy, Bug, Rock and Psychic type. Maybe rather than screw all those moves (Dazzling Gleam, Signal Beam, Power Gem and Photon Geyser) they should make Light based moves a subclass, like Sound, Punching, Fang etc
Make Illuminate increase their power

combine these desu and boost Def and Speed by +10 each. Boost SpA by +25. Add bug buzz and hydro pump to its movepool, or boost SpA by nothing and boost Atk by 45 while boosting Speed by 5 and boosting no other stats.

That or have it increase the duration of Light Screen and Reflect, since all the Illuminate mons actually get at least one of those through normal means. They all learn Signal Beam, but move tutors aren't always available for Watchog
