Hell, I even did it when I could take it on to either save time OR to simply position myself better to take Kecleon on.

What kind of retard would let Kecleon set the rules of engagement?

Well you need to fight Kecleon if you want to recruit it. In the DS games at least.
And I don't like that you can't even defeat it in Gates to Infinity.

PMD1 was easy enough to break. Hell you can even rebuy the gold scarf once you're done and do it again some other time if you want.
