VGC general. With Incineroar being on 80% of teams, what are you trying out to counter it? I've noticed a spike of Special Pokemon that don't mind Intimidate drops, and can Protect to wait out the Fake Out Pressure. Tsareena is also in the Top 20 in usage since she locks out Fake Out entirely, and her Helping Hand can boost her partner up enough to not mind one Intimidate. Two might be pushing it to make HH not useful. I remember Milotic being a popular choice for Anti-Intimidate tech in 2017. Is she still a viable option? I feel like my team has pieces that work against bigger threats like Kyogre, Incineroar and Xerneas, but I struggle against teams with Yveltal, Koko, and Lunaala. Lunaala especially seems scary, especially once my own Incineroar is out of the way and I lack the coverage to handle it. Tldr let's talk about VGC

Do Smogon's tiers only take singles into consideration? Incineroar is rampart throughout VGC at the moment but is still NU.

Can someone highly rated tell me what they did to got good? I am garbage at VGC, I am one of the highest ranked players consistently in smogon singles but in VGC I don’t know what to do. I always lose to a random switch to a scarfed kyogre or something that I have no counter for. It seems like a complete gamble when I’m playing it, how do you win consistently? What are your thought processes?

>>36724956 From a higher 1600s player - it’s all about team preview. Put yourself in your opponent’s shoes, consider what they’re most likely to bring against you and pick according to that. VGC games are won before turn 1 even happens pretty often
