Why do people care about Shiny's so much? I accidentally got a shiny golbat once and traded it for a legendary I missed.

They care about them because they’re “rare”. They just don’t realize that these days they really aren’t that rare at all. Pick almost any Pokemon and you can have a shiny of it in a day or two, if not a few hours.

I still do full odds hunt in older games because it’s way more satisfying when I finally get them. I don’t know how anyone could be excited when method hunting. Another thing I like ruined by casual normies.

Base rate in games before X/Y was 1/8192.

Base rate in X/Y on is 1/4096. 1/1365 if you have the shiny charm. Gets down to 1/low hundreds if you’re using some sort of method hunting.

The Gen 2 breeding method was also easy if you did the shiny Ditto trick by trading the red Gyarados (or any other shiny) back to Gen 1. And now you can transfer them up to Gen 7.

This. I got a shiny in every single game since X, they just made it a common thing and killed all value it had.

Shinies have literally just become "Differently colored Pokemon" to me. I only freak out when I get one I like the look off. Funnily enough, Shiny Ponyta is gorgeous. Getting a Shiny Dragonite would just piss me off. Shiny Nidoqueen makes me unreasonably angry just by thinking about it

Actually it's kind of comforting since my Niece overwrote my save data with the Gengar- the only shiny I've gotten since 2009- on it.

Chaining has been a thing since DP, shiny charm was BW2 and it was X&Y who made shinies twice as common. Its only slightly easier in lgpee because of no random encounters

Use PCalc and 3DS RNG Tool for the 3DS games. PCalc requires NTR. There's no point in doing this if you have CFW with PkHex available.

Was pretty crazy getting two Shinies basically back to back. Then I was breeding Drampa and Makuhita for VGC early Gen7 and got shinies of them ridiculously fast too. They're bottle capped now. Haven't seen a legit Shiny ever since. Probably won't for a while. Random Shinies are the best Shinies.
