Mythicals have always been an anti consumer concept. Mew is a piece of content locked behind a paywall. Within the context of Let's Go the only way to get Mew is to buy a $50 accessory which half the defenders of the game don't like.

One Pokemon you need to 100% the game.
You can't become a Grand Master, the ultimate goal in LGPE, without Mew.
You either need to hack or shell out an additional 50 bucks on Poke Ball Plus in order to truly beat it.

Uncertainty. There was a time when /vp/ would have love for GF to make a line of pokemon games to dump the casuals in so they could make the normal games a more "hardcore" and meaningful experience. But since GF has been disappointing everybody since ORAS, they feel like LGPE are what GF wants the whole franchise to be.
It doesn't really help that they used the world "mainline" to described the games, triggering every person here into incoherent rage.
