Honestly I liked SM way more than XY when it comes to the story, characters and the region itself, but the festival plaza is such a downgrade from the pss (the only redeeming quality of XY) it brings SM to about the same level of disappointment as XY.

Tldr: both games suck

Also, Gen 5 began the downward trend, not 6. It wasn't better than 5 overall, but 6 had far more redeemable qualities.
