Just like Lillie nicknamed her Vulpix "Shiron" as an egg because it was white and liked to roll around (like a snowball) and so it's called "Snowy" in English to preserve the same meaning

Better? Hell, it's not like this is some random guess, they had a Soft Sand item boosting ground types and introduced a literal sandcastle pokémon last time out that wound up part ground.

they need to stop fucking giving pokemon special designs based on their owners. Ash-Greninja was such a god damn mistake. now its Sun/Moon anime and there's pokemon with snowflake hairstyles everywhere. Cant wait to see what features are cut in Gen 8 in favor of shops that give pikachu (and only pikachu) special hair styles

It has a nickname to distinguish it from Ilima's Eevee, and the haircut to advertise LGPE

Same reason why Lillie's Vulpix has a nickname, to avoid confusion with any other Vulpix
