"Gotta catch 'em all" was dropped after Gen 2.

The Japanese catchphrase is just "Get Pokemon!".

There's a reason why catching every Pokemon has never actually been a goal for any of the characters in the games, anime, or manga.

That was Kris's whole arc motivation anon before getting mixed up in the Pryce bit with the other 'dex holders. Furthermore, every video on the english youtube channel starts with the "Gotta catch 'em all!" splash with Pikachu before starting the video proper.

Not the motto in Japan. "Catching them all" has always been an international thing. Ash doesn't try to catch every Pokémon because that was never the point in Japan.

That's purely for adfvertising purpose and should never have been a thing.
Pokemon is about traveling the world with a crew of 6 carefully chosen bros, not about filling up PC boxes

Wrong moron. In gen 1 important items were locked behind tasks such as collecting x amount of pokemon. It was encouraged to see and catch as many pokemon as you could, and a lot of npc dialogue was encouraging player to catch as many different pokemon as possible.

In gen 3 you actually cannot catch them all unless you know someone who got Colosseum or XD where Eevee can evolve into Umbreon or Espeon.
Not to mention event exclusives which not many people could get because there was no internet.

The games literally have incentives (and some requirements) to complete the Pokedex now. If anything there's more of an emphasis on catching them all than there were when it was the official tagline of the series.

It was abandoned in Emerald and onward, until XY, because Catching 'em All was so difficult to literally impossible throughout Gen 3.
With GTS improvements and ORAS' dex combined with XY+Pokebank, Catching 'em all became more than doable and they resurrected the slogan.
