How about pokemon wear myltiple items for each clothing slot, for example, one necklace slot, one ring slot, but when you hold a stone or something without a string that cannot be attached, that lowers your atk because you have to hold it with one paw/etc. Also after a pokemon is attacked there is a certain chance they could lose their held item. Makes it way more realistic.
