If Game Freak substantially shifted away from that, which would require actually having content outside of it that took up a decent portion of the games, then it would be acceptable. But as it is, Sword and Shield don't introduce enough things that substantially change the ethos of Pokemon. Doing so wouldn't be profitable, and this move is entirely motivated by profit.
