Gimmicks are not negative like people make them out to be, they are good or bad depending upon the circumstance.
Most of them weren't forced and all of them could be made optional meaning they are by default neutral and therefore good to have.
Adding salt to food is a gimmick and therefore a possibly unnecessary feature to that food too. Doesn't mean you need to argue against it's existence if you don't want to take advantage of the option. In fact doing so even though it doesn't hurt you just makes you a piece of shit who should pic related.
