The only seasons with soul were Indigo League, DP and XY and even then, they're nothing breathtaking desu.. Everything else is skippable trash.

It honestly feel apart somewhere around the 60 episode mark. The battles havent improved. Most of the Ultra Beast episodes are ass. The whole Necrozma arc was underwhelming as all hell.

For whatever reason, they didn't want to incorporate Guzma, Plumeria, or Hau at this point, and thus, they bacame checklist quotas.

The UB episodes are based though. The Buzzwole, Celesteela, Guzzlord and Kartana ones are top tier. The only meh one I can think of is the Pheromosa one, the Xurkitree and Blacephalon one and the Stakataka one and still the pheromones one was based with Mama Bear BTFO'ing her

The soul died with Pokemania around 2002, by the time Hoenn started everything just became too formulaic and safe, none of the more questionable elements and jokes of the earlier episodes when they were still testing the waters (In Kanto Ash was always cracking jokes then it just kind of stopped)
