Gives me time to focus on studying and finishing finals and shit for my classes before I can enjoy myself, since I have a tendency to procrastinate and just play vidya if I get something new instead of doing something important. Also slightly sates my autism of not wanting to support Gamefreak. Buying stuff used/at a discount is what I've done for pretty much all my Switch games except Smash, I believe. Got Astral Chain for like $10 off, BoTW for about $15 off, got Three Houses for like $10 off (and I haven't even gotten around to playing that yet), and Okami HD was at a slight discount when I got it on the eshop, saved like $3-4 bucks or something.
I know it's not all that much, but it sates the 'tism just a tiny bit and adds up over time. Though, honestly, I probably could stand to get stuff digitally. Bought a 256gb SD card and haven't used it for much of anything, really, because I've always given the excuse of 'I can wait a while and save a couple bucks, nbd'. Might get Luigi's Mansion digitally, though.
