I'm not looking foward to sword and shield so I want to ask you guys what are some good pokemon romhacks that have interesting mechanics or at least challenging to play?
are you playing any right now?

i dont remember most romhacks i played last i played was insurgence(not a romhack but a pc game) dont recall what i had last time i played all i know is it was all delta forms

Perfect if you want a hard game
Also you can catch every mon up to 5th gen especially if you activate the challenge mode (yes you can activate it in this hack since the beginning

Renagade Platinum, Fire Red Omega, Volt White 2. Just basically anything from Dray because most other romhacks are genuine shit.

Polished Crystal is also a neat one as well.

Perfect if you want a hard pokemon game, you can use the challenge mode since the start
Also modifies stats, moves and evos of pokemon like Butterfree so you can actually use it

I'm playing Insurgence for the first time right now, and it's quite enjoyable. I like a good fakedex, but it's so hard to find a game with a good one. The delta forms (i.e. think Alolan or Galarion forms of legit mons) scratch the itch without being completely shitty designs.

Pokemon Gaia is a GBA ROMhack and unironically the best Pokemon game ever released in my opinion. Has a lot of QoL features like reusable TMs and physical/special split, mons from future gens including fairy typing, a huge amount of new assets including a completely original region and story, and overall is just an incredible fanwork.

Clover is also great too if you don't mind some old memes and weird difficulty spikes.

Gaia is so freaking good. Easily the best Pokemon hack I have ever played.

I'm curious about any suggestions for RPG Maker games. I wasn't too impressed with Uranium way back when, but I've heard a lot of good things about Insurgence.
