Technically, most of the anime's revenue comes from said merchandise, so while the anime directly makes less money than the manga (because watching the anime is free while reading the manga isn't), it makes more via the merchandise it promotes.

Yeah people like their pokegirls but there was way more hype over individual Pokemon than any one girl. Compared the "uwu wooloo so cute" to any pokegirl reveal. People in general care more about the Pokemon. It's mostly /vp/ that cares more about the girls than the Pokemon.

I still see quite a bit of doll faced follower mods made that are almost always compatible with CBBE or UNP. Maybe not the hardcore shit that usually requires animation changes as I’ve seen that shit and it can be tedious to install, but I still do tend to see mods that are lewd or at least can be used for those purposes. So maybe I’m stretching that point a bit, but the memes part is definitely true.
