This was, by and far, the worst introduction to any gen. Not just for the poor quality of the games, but that GF's excuses are downright lies.
When you look at the good games, they were directed by people who have had decreased involvement in the games since gen 6. The quality of these games (Emerald, HGSS and BW2) really shines through and highlights how lackluster the games around them are. Morimoto and Unno have at most 3 credits on SWSH between them. Christ, Morimoto MADE the battle system, and he's not the battle director anymore. These guys still work and GF, but they're horrendously underutilized.
At this point, there's really only 2 options for an improvement in quality; give the games to Shigeki, Unno, whoever can be bothered to put in effort into pokemon games or just give Pokemon to another studio who can keep up in the industry, sho can make a game on current gen hardware that doesn't look and play like a Gamecube remaster.
