i think there should be a food type. why is because there are a lot of food pokemon with no type to represent them like Cherubi, ALCREAMIE, the Applin line, and so on.
Offensively it would be effective against Water and Fairy (these are purely for balance reasons and pokerubers will bend over backwards to justify it for me so I don’t care) and it would be resisted by Ice and Rock(both methods of preservation, Ice=low temperatures and Rock=Salt)
It would be weak to Bug(bugs eat food) poison(can spoil food) and fire(can cook food).

Spit Up
Swallow
Recycle
Belch
Natural Gift
Milk Drink
