My bud told me that there's more skill and creativity involved in Competitive Pokemon battling than in Texas Hold em Poker.

Is this true? I never played competitively

It's more of a chess battle on which you predict what your opponent will use since everybody uses the same teams, it just has a sprinkle of RNG with criticals and missable attacks

Bronzong was likely going to set up Trick Room, putting Rayquaza at a disadvantage. Hitmontop's Fake Out allowed Ray to get the SD up while burning Groudon's Protect, meaning the Groudon player would have to gamble on a 33% chance of Protect working again, risk losing Groudon to a +2 Dragon Ascent, or sacrifice one of his remaining Pokemon to take that hit.

Pokemon mechanics never were supposed to be a field for fair, competetive game but for roleplay storytelling. It has too much of invisible rolls and invisible points to be fair, and PTC is fucking retarded for trying to balance this system while half-assing rpg elements of Pokemon.

You require certain skill for both and In my opinion they are very different. I like playing poker more because more people are playing it and anywhere you go you will find someone to play with. I have gotten really good at it in the last few years and I wanted to enter some competitions this year, but the virus ruined those plans.
