Blue wasn't part of the original Gen I pairing kid. Further to that, Charizard ended up more popular in Japan at the start, hence the shilling from day one in the anime.

Because retard americans wouldn't have accepted Red/Green as a pairing and they were using the engine which had fixed a majority of the original games' bugs. It just made sense to pair Red and Blue, dumb burgers would buy it 'cause of 'murica if nothing else.
