Hello everyone. I'm just here to try and bring people a ray of hope regarding the next Pokémon games. So, first off, I'm a programmer. I started coding after I finished uni and joined a Japanese firm around a year ago. The firm specializes in lower level frameworks and when contracted by games, it tends to work on engines. Why am I saying this? Well, our last assignment was actually an engine for GameFreak. How do I know it was for Pokémon? Our direct clients were the team behind the base game mechanics and we actually got to visit them for requisite gathering which was really cool. As someone who has been a huge fan of Pokémon forever, I did manage to recognize some stuff from looking around when I had the opportunity without it seeming like I was snooping around. That being said, I wasn't able to see too much but what I did see was enough to get me to want to write this.
So: the next Pokémon games are happening in Sinnoh. How do I know? I saw the map. It was everywhere. Seems too specific to have that particular region's map just randomly displayed around the design room and not have any others as prominently (there was a pretty cool johto/kanto map though).
As for Pokémon there wasn't really much in terms of images that stood out, asides from one that looked like a beefier type:null.
So, we know it's probably going to be a Sinnoh game, rejoice? Well... we just finished the work on the engine so don't expect the game to come out any time soon. I'd guess probably November 2021 if they keep following their November releases. It doesnt mean we wont be getting a Pokémon game meanwhile, but I have no idea on any of that.
