The way I see it there are three clear categories of mainline pokemon games:

Straightforward/traditional titles
>Kanto and Johto
>Hoenn
>Sinnoh

More experimental w/greater story focus
>Unova
>Alola

Transitional titles/obvious rush jobs
>Kalos
>Galar

So where do you think Gen 9 will land? Is Galar only the way it is because of the transition to Switch, or will everything be like this going forward? What about Sinnoh remakes?

I don't expect TPC to move on to gen 9 anytime soon, they will fully milk gen 8 until it bleeds and use remakes, mobileshit, and spin-offs to keep the IP on life support.

It would be great if gen 9 tried to be experimental and story-focused with a touch of straightforward so there aren't so many goddamn long cutscenes, but instead it will probably be another shitty rushed-traditional again WITH long cutscenes.

it will probably be experimental. New hardware usually is a traditional experience, while the next game does something different if it's on the same piece of hardware like Gens 5 & 7.
Also Gen 8 will last 3-4 years just like every other generation.

Opinion discarded, don't mistake a lack of familiarity with new technology as them rushing the game, just means they rather play it safe while they get to grips with the hardware because this quite clearly wasn't rushed, yet still only looks slightly better than a GBC game.
