What if they gave Magcargo an ability similar to desolate land that negates water type moves when it is on the field

Magcargo should unironically have Desolate Land and also learn Power Gem.
Then it could be pretty good even with the pitiful BST and bad typing.

Maybe if you have it on a trick room team. 110 spatk and 150 DEF nice, but most water moves are special

Yeah, the line always felt like it fit better in Hoenn, though that's partially because there aren't any fucking volcanos in Johto, and the only volcano in kanto is (in lore)

To be honest it deserves Desolate Land.
Not only fits it's theme, but also would be extreme useful since it would get rid of a x4 weakness and +%50 on it's already weak attack.

Any non-fire Pokemon on the field with Magcargo will instantly be burned and take damage relative to how weak to fire they are (like stealth rock, but for fire).
Magcargo also causes any water or ice type moves to fail.

It should only get +50 HP plus storm drain and it will be a decent on lower tiers

It really wants a major buff to its Special Defense (+30), a minor one to its HP and its Special Attack (+10), Power Gem, Solid Rock instead of Magma Armor and coverage other than Fire, Rock and Ground. It would be usable in Smogon's lower tiers at least.
If you want it to be viable in OU or VGC, it would need some broken ability or move
