can you bring pokemon at, say, level 25, and have battles scale around that level? or will pokemon in boxes fuck it up and have it at level 80 or something?

“scaling” is the exact same as the wild area. it’s only based on story conpletion and caps at 60 on Hall Of Fame

It's based on badges/championship. If you've beaten Leon, everything is level 60-65 no matter what outside of two fights with fixed levels beyond that.
