Gen 7 was Z Moves you dumb fawk

Also who says Gen 9 has to have a battle mechanic gimmick? It might just flesh out a past one more. Gen’s 1-5 didn’t have an insane battle gimmick

IF they choose to keep a battle gimmick, they will probably stick with GMAX.

Why? Unlike Mega and Z moves that they NEED to exist as soon as a Pokemon is released/added, you can release a GMAX of any mon at any given time, considering its canon that all mons can dynamax but only a few has the potential to GMAX, is not species-based, but instead individual-based.

Megas and Z moves are both item based so they could just release the items as events.
They did that with Megas in gen 7.

I'm 100% certain that dynamax/gigantamax came about due to breakthroughs in GameFreak's engine that allowed them to scale Pokemon for battles. Very similar to how Doom and Quake built itself around a teleportation theme due to the teleportation mechanics of the original engine.
If we look at the next low bar for gimmicks, it would probably be something 6-8 years old by this point. So I'm guessing voice command battles and a sound-based gimmick.
