Nah SM takes the worst parts of modern JRPGs and throws them in your face nonstop. Can't say anything for SWSH because SM is what made me give up on new Pokemon games.

Should I replay AlphaSapphire? I hated it back in the day for no Mega Flygon+cutting Battle Frontier but I think I might appreciate it a little more these days.

If you loked XY you should like ORAS. They're easy, but enjoyable for quick fun since you can build almost any team you want and win. If you want a longer, more challenging adventure, play Gen 4, Gen 5, or USUM.
