The trainer has become obsessed and hopelessly obedient, gardevoir is horrified and disgusted by them, but can't abandon them. The old trainer that the gardevoir used to know is still in there, and still truly loves them. The gardevoir has to care for and lead the broken trainer, knowing that they will never completely return to normal.
