After the initial shock and disgust these are pretty much out of mind. They don't even feel like starters, instead feel more like mid game shitmons. Maybe the mono typings don't help, but they are pretty forgettable almost as much as Gen 2 starters.

I wouldn't say any of the starters are forgettable, the closest I've ever come was Gen 5 but that was more because they sucked than them being forgettable.

Starter autism gets worse and worse with each passing gen. I know people on here would like to say it’s a gen 7 thing, but the seeds were planted with gen 6.

The last two gens are probably a sign to GF to continue the humanoid personality starter trend. They’ve been getting consistently good results, as much as some people wouldn’t want to admit.

Rillaboom was always going to be unpopular because he is the fat grass one. The fat grass one always has gets less love than the other two, if he's lucky he'll become nostalgia-beloved in 10 years like Torterra and Venusaur, but for now he has to deal with the fact he's green and bulky.

In all fairness, I think the 3D models of most monsters look like shit. Rillaboom's gives him those bloated play-doh hands, Inteleon's arms look really stiff and pipe-like compare to the slender shape the 2d art has, PERRSERKER'S 3D model made me fucking hate him at first and I only realized I actualy love it when I saw the 2d artwork.

I know that Creatures Inc has had dibs for making the 3D models for a long time now, but they're just not good IMO. Fuck, look at Incineroar's 3d model and compare it to his Smash 3d model, literally same design but so much better rigged and shaped.
