If we’re changing a lot, make it Ground and keep its stats so it can spam Earth Power/Eruption

Fuck no. Just change Typhlosion's Speed and Sp. Atk around. (yeah its still nerfing its Sp. Atk but only by a bit)
Giving it Boomburst and Thunderbolt to reference its volcanic features would be nice, too.

Typhlosion is underrated. If you manage to get flash fire and put a scarf on it it OHKOs pretty much everything that doesn't resist fire, and even some things that do.

Give it a distinct special move pool. Other than Eruption and Extrasensory Typhlosion basically has nothing over Charizard, while Charizard itself has Flying coverage and Dragon coverage.

That's not enough to make up for having a worse offensive typing (pure Fire) and no Ground immunity, plus no useful boosting ability in sun like Zard's Solar Power.
