The quality of this board would improve 500% if playing and completing the original Gen 1 and 2 games was a posting requirement. Prove me wrong.

It would get rid of over half the userbase. Most posters on /vp/ haven't played a game that came out before SM.
They're not used to actually being able to play the game, it's why they hate LGPE.

People really need to get in their heads the fact that Kanto isn't the end-all open world pokemon game. Like, not even close.

Since the gym leaders always have the same teams regardless of when you go after them, you get a suboptimal experience if you choose to fight them out of the intended order. If you can beat, say, Koga, then there's zero chance Surge will cause you any trouble afterwards (also iirc you need Surge's badge to even use fly so have fun walking back to Vermillion city lol).
