How would you buff the Pledge moves (Fire Pledge, Water Pledge, Grass Pledge)?

They are already decent, they are just not meta because of the poor distribution, which makes the strat expectable, or with too few available users depending on the VGC year.

Widen the distribution, for example to the FWG Eevees, the elemonkeys from unova, Silvally, and Arceus. Also allow for the effect of a pledge to last for a few turns so it can be used in singles.

Change the Pledge moves to be a "once a battle" gimmick. If you activate Pledge, the two moves you select this turn will cause a Pledge after they go off, then add Pledges for every combination of types.
ex.
Rock + Flying causes a Stealth Rock Pledge
You activate Pledge
Whimsicott uses Tailwind
Tailwind goes off as normal.
Terrakion uses Rock Slide
The attack goes off as normal.
The Pledge activates and now pointed stones float in the air around the opponent's team.

Just buff them to 95 or 100 power so that they're slightly better than Energy Ball, Flamethrower, and Surf, then make it so it works if the two moves you use in a row will have the effect (e.g. using Fire Pledge and then switching out and using Grass Pledge will make the effect activate, but using Fire Pledge, then switching out, using Nasty Plot, and THEN using Grass Pledge wouldn't)

Should the main series have switched to being doubles-only back when it could, or should they even try to do that now?
Personally, I'm an absolute doublesfag. Replaying the orre games and doing some doubs on Showdown has doublespilled me more than I could believe. There's just so much more depth, more room to experiment and strategize, more ways to implement shitmons, and more ways to check shillmons and mons that otherwise rule the singles meta. Doubles public matches have widely different teams whereas I saw the same ~20-30 OU mons when I was in singles, and mons that are ubers in singles drop down to OU or even lower in doubles since there's just more to do in response to them, not to mention all the mons on low tiers who rocket up in doubles.
Most importantly though, think of all the moves, abilities, etc, that are literally useless in singles. Helping Hand, Triage, any ability that buffs your allies, they're just worthless trash in singles but actually have a meaning in doubles.

I agree with you man, sorry for that thread fuck up. I wanna get more into doubles but I wanna read up on some articles about the playstyle a bit more or hear others experiences with it. I definitely felt like I had to use my brain more when I was playing Collosseum.

Fire + Fire = Burn all opposing mons
Water + Water = For 4 turns the opposing side are treated as typeless
Grass + Grass = a 150 BP Giga Drain that heals both mons

As it stands, they're just kind of a weird gimmick that requires you to use mostly subpar mons or mons that don't synergize too well together.

The options are extremely limited right now.
The only available starters that are actually good are Venusaur, Charizard, Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Cinderace.
Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Cinderace are all physical attackers, so the boosted power doesn't do much for them.
That just leaves Charizard and Venusaur, who, to be fair, do synergize well in the sun, but Charizard can already just use GMax Wildfire for the same effect as Fire Pledge.

All in-game battles are now in doubles format, as they already should be

You get two starters in a game, either both at the same time or one a bit later. Either way you have the game’s native starter and then you get to pick an old game starter

Just like the monkeys and Silvally can learn pledge moves, Vaporeon/Leafeon/Flareon now also learn their respective pledges

There I fixed it

They should take the Double Emerald approach and give you Eevee alongside your starter.
You can evolve that Eevee into whatever you want, but the Fire, Water, and Leaf stones should be available early on.

They're really awkward to use because you can't manually control which Pokemon uses the combined move. It's always the slowest of the two, which means you need very specific stat spreads just to so much as get STAB out of it.
