It just comes down to the fact that platinum has more to do in your downtime between routes where you stop in cities and do everything there. Not to mention the routes and areas are just way larger overall. It's not a knock on Gen 1, that was a primitive gameboy game, and was excellent for what it was, but my point is I've been spoiled cause while Red and Blue felt huge as a kid, now it feels barren
