For me was when I saw a bycicle turning into a water-vehicle. That was when I knew they did not give a single fuck anymore and were just phoning in these games because they had to.

Gadgets were a reasonable way to remove HMs. The pokemon technology is alot better than what we have in our world . Nobody wants to have hm slaves or waste a move slot on thier main party pokemon. There was no way they would make 200+ unique riding animations for water travel accounting pokemon sizes and body shapes. So at best you get the shadow template pokemon again

when the jump to 3d happened. that being said, it was never one of my favorite series' to begin with. and then the mario and luigi rpgs jumped to 3d and i realized all in the world was no longer holy. and then sticker star happened. :(

Gen 6

It continued all the worst parts of Gen 5 and removed the parts that made them unique, a massive step down in quality that has only continued.
