In my time spent on /vp/ I've realized one thing: All of you are dead inside. Your dopamine receptors are burnt out, meaning you cannot find joy in anything you used to. You hate the every thing the board was founded on, blindly and without any care for the good and fun that can be found in these games. You have given up the sense of wonder you once had and the fondness of traveling across a region, catching pokemon, growing close to them, and fighting battles together - win or lose. You have lost the ability to empathize with Ash, protagonist of the anime, and look upon him with disdain and hatred.
You have lost your way, /vp/. It's time to stop with the hate and start looking on the bright side of things. Stop treating everything like it needs scathing, surgical critique and like one feature you don't like in a game invalidates all the other cool, awesome things that every gen has brought to the table. It's time to stop turning up your nose at the spinoffs and remakes. It's time to stop deriding every romhack as "Smogonshit" or "edgy garbage". It's time to reinvigorate your love for the franchise.
Look back not with the critical eye of a jaded, hate-filled fool who can't enjoy anything anymore, and celebrate the good times that the franchise has brought you. Stop focusing on the bad, focus on the good and the fun and joy that the Pokemon games bring. Stop arguing if someone is a "shill" or a "Zoomer" or whatever else and for once accept that we all love pokemon and that everything pokemon has produced at the very least has something of worth that it has contributed to the franchise.
Whether your first games were the green-shaded pixels of Kanto in Red and Blue or the show-covered paths of Sinnoh or anything in between, every generation has something wonderful to offer if you're willing to give it a chance.
Now give up your hate and learn to enjoy things again. Remember how to have fun and experience joy.
