>>49288796Transformers is weird because it wasn't especially good, nor terrible, into its early stages but the movie is what slapped Hasbro enough to try and make it an actual scifi thing. They didn't do an amazing job, but you'd see a lot of concepts carry over into the GI Joe movie later. The Rodimus side of things was almost a different series at times.
I can't say I saw Pokemon's artistic vision, not really anyway, but it was different in a time where a lot of things were the same and that is always a recipe for success. It started out as a hokey kids game and that's why it was fun, and later became a franchise.
Both franchise starts are reflections of their times, and it's really interesting to think about.

You can see a clear bump in quality between Wars/Machines for better or worse. Both especially look fantastic compared Reboot/1994 when a lot of that tech was being made on the fly by the company.
