One thing I like about modern Pokemon is how they are willing to add new pokemon mid-gen now. Before we would get all the new pokemon at the start of the gen and then get no new ones for years outside of anime appearances and small cameos where they weren't playable, like Munchlax in Mystery Dungeon. Now every few months we get a few new mons.
