This is literally the first fight you can do that feels like a proper full blown main series trainer battle besides maybe Ingo, and the AI is the best it's ever been in a main series game. What the fuck?

Holds up the core elements of the main series, of which the line has been blurred after Sun and Moon removed most of the staple features like the national dex and completely switched up the gameplay formula of exploration, catching, and strategy.
Legends is more of a mainline game than SM/USUM/SWSH will ever be. Cope.

The games aren't NOT mainline because they're shit. If that was the case then Gen 6 and base DP would also not be considered "mainline" Pokemon.
Also go back to your discord retard, we can all tell its you because you're the only ones pushing this ridiculous idea that Gen 7 removing the physical natdex is at all comparable to Gen 8 not allowing certain Pokemon in at all.

Stop posting retard, the core features have always been gyms, catching, battling, and becoming the champion. PLA is so far from the core experience that even Let's Go got right. Its a fucking time-travel spin off that doesn't fit the mainline pokemon formula at all, and you will never see the same kind if game until Legends: Celebi or some shit

It's not a side game, those would be the TCG, Mystery Dungeon, Stadium, Snap and Colosseum.
But you can stay mad that you don't have to buy 2 or 3 of the same game because muh different mascots.

If that's the criteria being used to denote mainline vs non-mainline then the distinction isn't relevant. If gamefeak made a card game it would be mainline by your logic, and so why bother insiting that a time-travel game with totally different gameplay is somehow equal to the core games that have been the same for decades

it's not totally different though
you have 5 raging nobles instead of 8 gyms
there's a bare bones battle facility because they will be releasing Pokemon Battle Frontier as a send off to legacy style battles.
They have wild battles, trainer battles
they've merely introduced a long time QoL that the games have needed, and that's being able to just throw a ball at a pokemon without actively engaging it but for stronger pokemon an active engagement is still more effective and reliable.
Moving away from barebones corridors is a good thing. Hoping they really have fun in creating a map with imoactful routes between these PLA wild areas and add dungeons. Adding secret bases back would also be incredibly cool and I see no reason why hidden grottoes couldn't make a return.
Hell retcon dynmax and makr them field events like the time-space distortions so I can see kaiju size pokemon waddle around their designated area from the other side of the map
also bring back megas so I can easter egg hunt for stones again

The fact of the matter is GameFreak has had enough of trying to cater to this audience that only exists because they discovered values WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO KNOW ABOUT in the form of IVs and EVs.
Masuda regrets making those values the way they were in Gen 3, and everyone loathes having to go through such cyclical bullshit solely for the sake of competitive retards and TPC's attempts to capitalize on them with VGC.
It's literally, ironically, the competitivetard's own undoing, that Landorus keeps coming back. That Incineroar keeps coming back. That the meta never develops much beyond "replace staple with better version of itself".
If it weren't for competitive, GameFreak could actually focus on proper postgame content that isn't the obligatory Legendary Collectathon as a result of Generational Markings barring entry from previous iterations of those Pokemon.
