What's the best emulator for the DS Pokemon games? Are there any with a good speedup feature for grinding?

Unpopular opinion but run it on real hardware
I recommend new3ds as system of choice though theoretically any ds system should work
Twilightmenu comes packaged with a bunch of cheats to speed things up. I know Gen 4 in particular has full on battle fast forward cheats that are toggleable with the press of a button, in addition to a ton of other qol cheats like skipping the pokemon center animation and increasing the amount of exp gained per battle

When I say real hardware I specifically mean the console itself. I don't give two shits if you decide to fill your system with roms you got off of vimm's lair
Nintendo 2ds in particular is fairly cheap even used

I acknowledge that, I simply recommend N3ds due to all the shit you can do with it homebrewed. I don't have much experience with modding a ds or dsi but from what I understand there are ways to load twilightmenu on them as well

I own the carts I wanted, doesn't mean i am willing to pay the current prices for the games. If you want to waste your money without giving a shit then do it, I am not wasting my money on hardware that is old and that will die in a few years, knowing nintendo. My DS are both broken as well now, the nintendium ran out ages ago so don't pretend it is based to buy when it is useless.

That's also true. Although you can also play gba on the 3ds family I know it's emulation isn't the best. If you want an authentic experience though then you probably want to go with a ds lite
