The faces are fucking weird. PLA had pretty good character models, or at the very least ones that didn't look uncanny.
What I've seen most nips speculate is that they went with a more "realistic" artstyle to appeal to the West. If that's the case they're failing miserably given the reactions I keep seeing.

I think hybrid styles can work just fine when done by a talented artist but Japanese people suck ass at mixing anime with realism/western art styles. It’s like they’re going through the Japanese equivalent of a how to draw manga phase.
Either they should hire western artists are just embrace anime. If they want to go hard with globalization, you might as well have global talent, but if they don’t, God knows there’s enough weeaboos that cry about wanting Japanese stuff to be untouched nipponese cultural exports that they can still get away with it and appeal to the world market.

PLA felt more realistic in that regard. They should've just fine-tuned what they did there, even if that artstyle fit more with that setting. The need for every game to be its own thing creates a situation where there's lack of overall improvement. Reminds me of how Assassin's Creed was.
