It is possible, nay, likely, that the Pokemon World Tournament cameos aren't even actually happening, and even if they did happen in some continuity or another, there's nothing to suggest Nate and Rosa have to be victorious in it; you don't NEED to clear the cameo-tournaments to beat the game, it's a bonus objective.

Red isn't actually (you); the second he became a character he had to have scaled back feats.
None of the protagonist characters can actually be characters because they'd mismatch. Red uses the "default name" of the player character but isn't truely him.

Nobody liked Unova's story so it was entirely disregarded in BW2 and subsequent games. This is also the reason why the games and stories are tailored more to pre-K thru 3rd grade players

The (obvious) reason is that Red has been solidified as an actual character with an actual team. The Unova protags are still self inserts and from my knowledge have never been mentioned outside of gen 5. The reason they haven't shown up sense then is because their accomplishments aren't any special compared to literally every other gen3+ protag who's stopped genocidal maniacs and world ending legendaries. Red was special because Gold and Silver were sequels and fighting the previous player character after conquering Kanto was a cool idea. Considering how dedicated Gamefreak is to sticking to formulas I'm very surprised there hasn't been another protagonist boss fight.

In the fandom, Red's known as da strongest trainer eva!! because his battle is one of the most memorable and challenging fights in the series. Same reason why Cynthia is considered the strongest champion among a lot of fans even with how hard the games and anime try to hype up Leon.

He's also the only protag to become an NPC trainer making self-inserters who played as him in Gen 1 think the world of him (themselves).

Why isn't PWT canon, anyway? Because Giovanni is there? Given what happened in HGSS and the time, I can imagine he's on probation. Is it because none of the other characters have aged? Understandable. But going to and fighting in PWT is mandatory in the story of B2W2, it canonically exists, even if it's not entirely mandatory.

When you beat him in HgSs you get the Legend ribbon. Also VGC winner teams received the Red ribbon named after Red after becoming world champion.
In LGPE you get the Pokemon Master title for beating him.
In USM he is the only trainer in single battles to hold the title living Legend. Blue in doubles.

It's just an event. Only the in game story pwt part is canon afterwards its just a minigame to pass time

Like we said the non aging of characters is just massive. Tate and Lisa are still the same kids after all these years. We see an aging Red in SM despite the canonical gap between BW events to SM just being two years. Even though Red and Green share their 14 year old design from HGSS.

That's very common in battle facilities. Anabel doubly so, since she had them both in her Emerald fight and in her appearance in the Gen 7 games. By that logic, Battle Tree isn't canon.

There's also a number of events in the games that reference the anime. In fact, there's another download tournament based on the anime in B2W2 isn't there? Also, if we're going by "real people", almost every single trainer in Gen 2 is named after somebody on the development team. Hell, Red covers both of my arguments with his alternate name option of Satoshi. Maybe I'm just desensitized to alternate versions of characters in different universes to the point that counterparts to real life people don't phase me. Real life people in a game also happened in the Stadium games, I forget which one or if it was Japan only again. For a more obscure and silly example, don't forget Imakuni from the TGC.

Caitlin from the E4 clearly aged in-between her BF appearance in HGSS but children characters all stayed the same after all these years.
The battle tree isn't canon either but at least you see all the aged characters cameo outside of it in the story such as Red Blue and Sina/Dexio+ Annabel.

Yeah, generally speaking. It's more or less an asset flip unfortunately, I would have liked to see a few redesigns. It's a shame it's probably never coming back. I guess you could argue Maylene is just small from working out so much and Tate/Liza have that weird psychic twin thing going on, but that's a pretty big stretch and is more of a rationalization that anything intentional. I'll easily concede on that fact, it's probably the most lazy part of the whole endeavor.

Which makes Wally all the more odd. It's not even a straight asset flip. They changed his model fairly significantly. Is it because he has Ebola AIDS Herpex or whatever?

There are only 3 maincharacters whose achievement carried over into the next games.
Red in GSC and HGSS
Dawn Lucas in BW and Legends
Hilbert/Hilda in BW2

The rest never get mentioned ever again by anyone else or their achievements dont carry over.

When you meet Steven in Johto in HGSS he still calls himself the champion of Hoenn despite Brandon/May's journey happening around the same time as Red. Meaning May or Brendan's journey never happened. Not to mention Deoxys still lands in FrLG as well.

Professor Kukui says he challenged the Kanto league and lost to champion Lance. That doesnt necessarily disprove Ethan since we dont know exactly what year it happened but still Ethan's existence never gets mentioned.

To be fair, there seems to be more than one Deoxys in general. Not to mention, FRLG was released between two Hoenn games that have the Deoxys in the exact same place. This isn't even getting into the weirdness of multiple universes, the Platium reference in both Black and White despite the city shaping differences in both games and the explicit reference to each version being an alternate universe opens up the possibilities massively. This isn't even getting into Entralink, which due to weird dialogue choice of "someone's world" that aren't used in any other connectivity context implies each player's save is it's own universe, even if that's probably a stretch and and contentiously factual in relation to anything.

Also using his rivals Blue and Leaf as metrics, Blue was close to tackling Giovanni (until Red cucked him from doing so) and Leaf was close to taking on Mewtwo (until the LGPE player cucked her).
He eventually became the benchmark for greatness in the Pokemon world, though it's fair to say the other protagonists would later go on to make a name for themselves as well. We just don't get to see it.

Gen 5 kids had all the Gym Leaders and other characters helping them along, on top of being a chosen one.

Red was just some kid who uncovered and dismantled Team Rocket by himself.
