Do team star use Cyclizar as a grunt pokemon like Zubat heavily? I don't want a grunt pokemkn on my team.

To this day I like the world of gen 1 the most because it still largely feels like "the real world but Pokemon have started appearing". Every gen after that they just leaned harder and harder into everything being Pokemonified

That's literally what happened, originally. Kanto was just Kanto, Japan, just with different names for cities/wards. It got retconned when spinoff material started taking off. You can even see echoes of this in the anime, like Ash having a cow costume and the mongoose Gastly turns into.
