Solid games on their own even if you take away the social aspect, but there's better ones out there like GSC. It definitely has the most bugs but I feel that helps give it its own charm. Exploits like Missingno let you play god by having all the items and could even help you finish the dex if you knew what to do and yet it didn't screw with the immersion. My main gripe is how overblown the unplayability is. 99% of complaints are just situational bullshit parroted from "The Problem with Gen 1". Broken shit to me is like FF1 where half the moves don't work at all. It's super easy to play on an emulator too so if you (for some reason) haven't played it yet, give it a try on VBA with speedup. You can even use the save for Stadium just like a real cart.
