>>52614196I did like the idea of a second league of sorts. It was good for the anime. Ash goes for the badges, while May/Dawn could have their own competition to strive for.
That said,
>>52614208. Anything that makes you have to know and use the mechanics of the game effectively instead of bruteforcing it with a level 89 Charizard and a team of hm slaves used for Revive turns is a major improvement.
I know they can't make it a part of main storyline, because then it will brickwall little Timmy. But much like Mario Odyssey has challenge moons and Breath of the Wild has the Master Trials that are ballbusting if you want full completion, Pokemon needs challenging endgame side content for the good players too. Battle Frontier is a good version, sure, but so is the puzzle style of Pokestar Studios. Reminds me of Duels of the Planeswalkers, where it would give you a disadvantageous board state and say "okay now use that to win in 3 turns"
Part of why I do like the current raids, at least conceptually, their implementation is buggy as hell. 6 star raids ASSUME you have brute force, and then ask you to strategize on top of that. But like the Mario and BotW challenges, it's also an open ended problem. "You have everything in the game at your disposal. You can even organize with some buddies as a team. Figure it out."
