kinda how like Ultra Beasts only had codenames

With Ultrabeasts it made sense, they were classified as pokemon in lore.
With Paradoxes, we are still not sure.

Paradoxes are clearly based on pokemon that people in-universe are familiar with so if anything it would make sense to name them after them in some way. This is literally the same gen as convergents that were named after other pokemon because they were mistaken for them

We are the first to actually encounter them in masses. It makes sense. With UB they were only known to the scientists so they made more research compared to Paradoxes

the first ones to make a recorded discovery of the paradoxes were literally a scientific research team & they're the ones who named them

my point is that even at the time of discovering Great Tusk/Iron Treads for example they note the similarity to Donphan so by all accounts should have logically taken it into consideration when naming them

The paradox names are apparently from Heath's book so they're presumably what the original expedition called them since they hadn't been scientifically described yet.
Since the book was dismisses as a fake player is the first confirmed to encounter the paradox mons since then (besides the professor, who doesn't seem to have made their research public) they presumably didn't get proper names in the intervening time.
