They should have had the school be fully explorable instead of it warping you everywhere.
It was also a perfect chance to introduce more rivals and characters, but they instead focused on the teachers for some reason.

I didn't like it much at the beginning but it's actually pretty cute. Helps that the teachers were fun and some of the classes were interesting and had tests. I really liked the little story lines that each teacher had and that you could form a bond with them. Made them actually seem like characters.
I wish to sex the teachers and/or our friends.

This, but also if they were going for a school theme they should have:

1) Had you spend at least a few quality hours of game time at the school before throwing you into the open world suddenly

2) Give you meaningful reasons to return other than lectures about stuff that fans already know and kids don't care about.
