I don't. All romhacks are trash because their authors have completely misunderstood what made the games fun to play. Polished Crystal is probably the best there ever will be, and its still not very good.

I'm fine with it being harder but i absolutely have no desire to engage with pokemon's horrendous iv/ev/nature system, which is easily one of the worst parts of the normal games but at least there it's not mandatory for simply playing the game.

I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that the level of wild encounters wasn't adjusted to account for this, so you have to grind to level 100 off of level 50s, or the game just gives you infinite rare candies instead of actually fixing the problem
