The retro gaming and Pokémon fans got their fill with the RBGY/GSC leaks. Lots of sprites for GSC cancelled Pokemon, various leftovers from Red and Green localization. The types of things you would expect from a game that took 5 years to develop being worked on in their spare time.
RSE/FRLG had a few design documents but it wasn't as cool as all the sprites in the earlier leaks and the people running the various Pokémon disassembly projects were afraid to look at it to keep their clean room environment.
The further along you get, the more they had moved to a regular game development environment and less interesting stuff was showing up. Not to mention there's not as big of a modding community for later games outside of figuring out how to PKHex a Level 100 Charizard.
